AN ANALYSIS OF THE ORGANIZATIONAL COMMITMENT BASED ON DEMOGRAPHIC ISSUES AND COMPANY SIZE

ABSTRACT

The area of human resources management has undergone changes in its paradigms and started to assume a strategic role within organizations. From that point on, the employees' commitment became valued as a tool to improve organizational results. In this context, it was defined as an objective for this research to analyze how different demographic variables and company size influence the level of organizational commitment of individuals. To reach the proposed objective, a survey was carried out, and the data collected were analyzed through Exploratory Factor Analysis and means tests. Based on the results obtained, it was found that the levels of affective and normative commitment are higher among the more mature professionals, who have children, who are not single and have a lower level of schooling. In addition, it was found that the level of instrumental commitment is higher among women.
