ABSTRACT

This study aimed to verify the occurrence of bovine mastitis caused by different microorganisms and its antimicrobial susceptibility from samples sent to the Laboratory of Preventive Veterinary Medicine of the Faculty of Integrated Campo Mourão during the months of February to November of 2014. 44 samples were received from the field region gatepost, in order to identify the agent and perform a treatment in a correct manner, through the culture and sensitivity respectively. Samples were plated on blood agar media and MacConkey agar and incubated for 48 hours at 37 ° C. After growth of several tests were performed according to the identification of each microorganism. The antibiograms were performed by disk diffusion method. From the identification results revealed the presence of Staphylococcus ssp in 58.97% of the samples, Streptococcus spp. 33.33%, Enterococcus spp. of 12.82%, Bacillus ssp. at 10.25%, Corynebacterium spp. at 10.25%, 5.12% in Escherichia Colli, Yersinia spp. at 2.56%, and Klebsiella spp. of 2.56%. It was found that 86.95% of Staphylococcus spp., More isolated bacterial genus, were sensitive to enrofloxacin. Since penicillin was shown with a greater bacterial resistance profile (47.82%) between samples of Staphylococcus spp. In Streptococcus spp. isolated antibiotic which obtained the best sensitivity profile was enrofloxacin (69.23%), whereas tetracycline showed with a greater resistance profile (38.46%). We conclude that the culture and sensitivity tests help to identify agents and in choosing the right treatment, preventing the spread of antimicrobial resistance.

Key Words: antibiotic susceptibility; culture; mammary gland; infection; microorganisms.
ER -
