THE INFLUENCE OF PROTEIN ON ANIMAL REPRODUCTION: A REVIEW

Abstract
During the last few decades, cattle productivity has increased significantly. This increase has been attributed mainly to intense selection of productive traits, such as higher beef and dairy yields, improved sanitary and reproductive management, as well as a more adequate nutritional control. The objective of this review is to demonstrate the existing relationship between nutrition and the physiology of ruminant reproduction, and it will focus on the study of protein metabolism. With the boost in animal performance, comes an increase in demands for nutrients for the synthesis of dairy and tissue. The increase in nutritional requirements can affect reproductive functions if the animal does not obtain a compensatory increase in nutrient intake.
}, number={1}, journal={Revista Campo Digital}, author={Maggioni, Daniele and Rotta, Polyana Pizzi and Zawadzki, Fernando and Marques, Jair and Prado, Rodolpho Martin and Prado, Ivanor Nunes}, year={2011}, month={fev.} }
